FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(Interview with The Founder)

Question 1:
What led you to think of this type of company?

Answer:
“As a father, like most parents, I want to provide my daughter with more tools than I had at her age when it comes to educational and career possibilities. I want to give her a road map of success. I could not find what I was looking for online, in the library, or the local bookstore, therefore, AchieveAhead was born!”

Question 2:
Why is the company named AchieveAhead?

Answer:
“When I think of education, I think of gaining knowledge and learning. My reason for seeking an education was to achieve a career so I could support myself and my family. Of course, as a young student, I may not have realized all the benefits of a higher education but I’m sure my parents did.

In today’s society, achieving some type of certification, diploma, or degree is a requirement in order to obtain a fulfilling career. As I share with others, in order to stand out from hundreds of resumes a potential employer is reviewing, you must to ‘achieve ahead’ so there is no question who will be offered the opportunity.

I’m reminded of a Les Brown quote that had an impact in my career, as well as daily activities. It states, “Always strive to be on top because it is the bottom that ts overcrowded.” Our name tells the story. Our goal is to support or create the drive that is necessary to place you at the top of your class and career.

Question 3:
What products are offered by AchieveAhead?

Answer:
“We currently have 21 products which include ‘eye-opening academic career cards, lifestyle board game, and creative jigsaw puzzles. We have ten other educational products in our development center that will be rolled out as well.”

Question 4:
How can school systems implement these resources in their curriculum?

Answer:
“Career cards are excellent tools to have in the classroom. Students have the opportunity to learn about various career paths, present information, role play their career of choice, as well as identify areas of interest. Comprehension assessments can also be formulated.”

Question 5:
How can parents benefit from AchieveAhead?

Answer:
“I honestly believe most parents want the best for their children. However, in many cases, the parents may not have the experience or the knowledge that will benefit their children. Unfortunately, some children have to figure out things for themselves. Hopefully, parents will share these products with their children, have fun discussions, and increase their overall knowledge as well.”

Question 6:
Why do some products have businesses listed on them?

Answer:
“Select companies featured on our products are sponsors. If you were to ask me what is the one thing I would like to see changed or added to our educational curriculum, it would be exposure. Everyday students pass by places of business on their way to school. Besides a restaurant or grocery store, some students have never experienced the atmosphere of an office such as a law office, doctor’s office, contractor’s office, and many others.” Our goal is to help open these doors.”

Question 7:
Dr. Ryans, please tell me about the AchieveAhead board game.

Answer:
“Our board game is designed to give students a better understanding of how responsibility and accountability operate within a household. At the same time they will be learning about careers and how their choices in life impacts their livelihood. As parents, we know sometimes our kids may think money grows on trees. Again, this will allow them to experience some of the financial challenges many parents face on a daily basis.”

Question 8:
Where can you purchased these products?

Answer:
“Our products are currently being offered here at achieveahead.com. Our target distribution channels include Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other large retail stores as well as specialty education stores.”

Question 9:
Tell us about your “GIFT IT FORWARD PROGRAM”

Answer:
“We have identified nine areas of need. The first five are designed for educational purposes. These include the following:

• School Supplies – Many families are unable to purchase school supplies which automatically places these students at a disadvantage.

• Student Awards -Why wait until you graduate to get recognized for your accomplishments? We have developed award programs that allows students to achieve as early as pre-K. Building students’ self-esteem enhances their academic performance (research proven).

• Career Activities – We want to participate in as many career days as possible. Not only will we hand out career information and gifts, we look forward to bringing in various professionals who can provide first-hand information about their careers.

• Summer Camps – We are excited to offer two levels of summer camps. Level I is designed for students ages 8-12 years old. Level II is designed for students ages 13-17 years old. The purpose of the camps is to increase students knowledge and awareness of the business world and how most career paths have some form of business structure involved. Students will have fun learning about presentation skills, sales & marketing, personnel, operations, and much more! No other camp is designed like this one!

• Field Trips – Exposure is the key to enhancing a child’s mind. Many children will never get the opportunity to see inside a business or participate in some of their city’s best attractions such as the aquarium, zoo, sporting events, universities, and more.

The remaining four areas are humanitarian which include the following:

• Youth Justice – Youth detention is a serious problem in the United States. Studies show that private prisons use the third grade achievement as a predictor for future prison population. Our goal is to provide youth detention centers with resources in hopes of helping youth take a different road once they are released.

• Domestic Violence – Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior in any relationship to gain or maintain power over an intimate partner. Often, children are in the household witnessing this type of abuse which impacts their safety, as well as their educational performances.

• Homeless Shelters – Many people may not realize it, but one out of three Americans is one paycheck away from being homeless. The person who just took your order at a fast-food restaurant or delivered your pizza could very well be homeless. It’s not because they are lazy. If you stop and do the math, you will discover why many people who work, still find themselves in a homeless shelter.

• Trafficking – Human trafficking is the second-largest criminal enterprise in the world, after drug smuggling and arms dealing. We partner with various nonprofits to help stop this serious crime. There is a misconception in the United States that human trafficking primarily pertains to foreign countries. The painful truth is that this is one of the fastest growing crimes in our country.
